Animals for Elders enhances lives by funding pet companionship for seniors to increase their quality of life, prevent loneliness and depression and help save the lives of animals in shelters.
Help prevent loneliness
One of the most serious conditions for seniors is loneliness. Pets offer companionship, affection and unconditional love. Caring for them creates a sense of purpose and alleviates feelings of loneliness. Pet parenting has proven health benefits by promoting exercise, getting outdoors, and socialization which decreases blood pressure and cholesterol levels.
Save shelter animals
Animals for Elders funds adoption fees, veterinary care, and ongoing qualifying expenses of up to $1500 per year to help offer financial support and minimize monetary obstacles for seniors seeking in-home pet companionship.
